"Perfect" - Alastair Sawday

The George is an unspoilt, family run pub in the Peak District village of Alstonefield, above Dovedale.

The pub is small, with a bar, snug to the side of the bar and dining room.  The bar has portraits of locals, historic artefacts and a homely fire.

The dining room and snug have been restored to their original simplicity with lime plastered walls and farmhouse furniture.  Candlelight and fresh flowers add a touch of elegance.

We hope that you can join us soon to enjoy our well kept real ales, carefully selected wine list and real pub food.

The upper floor of the Coach House, to the rear of The George, is an intimate wedding venue for up to forty guests. We offer a service to the wedding party that is a reflection of the style of the pub with rustic furniture and beautiful table settings.  Our wedding menus have a similar style, featuring simple, British food.

Working with the bride and groom we create a lunch or dinner party atmosphere where all your guests will be close to you on your wedding day.

We do not have a wedding licence but we can introduce you to the vicar of St Peter's, our local church, or the Registrar in Ashbourne.

Please note that if any of your guests require level access, we would recommend having your wedding breakfast or dinner in the dining room of The George rather than in the Coach House as the stone steps to the upper floor are old stone and are a little uneven.
